What should you check before launching a website?
- Format
- Pre-launch tick-box checklist
- Covers
- Mobile responsiveness, page speed, broken links, analytics, security, legal pages
- Best for
- The week before a site goes live
What the preview includes
- ☐ Mobile Responsiveness Check
Test on actual devices, not just browser dev tools — check that tap targets are at least 44×44px and that no content is cut off or requires horizontal scrolling on common screen widths. - ☐ Page Speed Test
Run your homepage and top three landing pages through PageSpeed Insights. Target Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) under 2.5 seconds — a single oversized unoptimized image is the most common cause of failing this. - ☐ Broken Link Scan
Crawl the full site for 404s before launch — a broken internal link discovered by a visitor (or by Google) after launch costs credibility and crawl budget you don't get back easily.
- Analytics and conversion tracking setup checklist
- Security checks (SSL, form validation, spam protection)
- Legal page requirements (privacy policy, terms, cookie consent)
- Post-launch 30-day monitoring checklist
