What the preview includes

  1. ☐ Choose Your Entity Type
LLC, corporation, or DBA — each has different liability protection, tax treatment, and ongoing maintenance requirements. Most single-owner service businesses choose an LLC for its combination of liability protection and tax simplicity.
  2. ☐ Choose Your Formation State
Where you actually operate, or a state chosen for privacy/tax characteristics (Wyoming, Nevada). Forming out-of-state while operating in-state usually requires a separate foreign-qualification filing — factor that cost in before deciding.
  3. ☐ Run a Name Availability Check
Search your state Secretary of State's business name database before filing — a name that's too similar to an existing registered entity will be rejected, costing you the filing fee and delaying formation.
  • EIN application checklist and required information
  • Registered agent selection criteria
  • Operating agreement must-have provisions
  • Post-formation compliance calendar setup
